The Youngker Roughriders were the 54-48 winner over the Kofa Kings when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Youngker took a 57-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Kofa on Thursday.
Tasean Smith and Ares Chambers certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Smith scored 17 points, while Chambers scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Smith has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Hayden Williams, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Kofa's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Elijah Braveheart, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Braveheart hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for eight straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Calvin Barber, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Youngker now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Kofa, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-9.
Youngker will head out on the road to square off against Washington at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Kofa won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Cibola at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th.
