2B Southeast recap Sept. 26, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Waitsburg/Prescott, who took down 69th ranked Waitsburg/Prescott, 33-22.
Tekoa-Oakesdale/Rosalia was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from third to first in 2B Southeast. The Nighthawks vanquished the Cardinals 33-22 earlier in the week.
Tri-Cities Prep's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Evan Whitsett threw for 84 and one touchdown and Josh Guajardo had 74 yards receiving. On the ground Bailey Rivas chipped in 120 yards. Rivas helped Tri-Cities Prep's passing attack out by catching one ball for 10 yards.
Tri-Cities Prep's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Jaguars feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Whitsett has thrown for 396 yards and six touchdowns this season, while Guajardo has 15 catches for 174 yards. Rivas leads the league in rushing with 568 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Waitsburg/Prescott takes on DeSales. As it stands, Jeff Bartlow's team is in third, while the Irish are in second.
Tekoa-Oakesdale/Rosalia extended the longest winning streak in 2B Southeast this week by beating the Cardinals, 33-22. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
