The Canyon Springs Cougars fell victim to the Rancho Christian Eagles''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Eagles, falling 42-0. Canyon Springs just can't catch a break and has now endured three losses in a row.
Rancho Christian found their leader in underclassman Blake Nadler, who threw for 298 yards and six touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Dalton, who picked up 109 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Canyon Springs to a paltry 49 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Rancho Christian's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out seven times before it was all said and done. Canyon Springs' QB won't forget Desmond Nana agyei anytime soon given Nana agyei sacked him seven times.
Canyon Springs' defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 4-6. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Rancho Christian, Hemet, and Cathedral City. As for Rancho Christian, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Canyon Springs will challenge Adelanto at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Adelanto will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each match than the last. As for Rancho Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Moreno Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
