The Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a hard 69-54 fall against Coahulla Creek. While losing is never fun, Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 441st, while Coahulla Creek is ranked 187th).
Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Zyan Eastman, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jared Mitchell, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds.
Coahulla Creek got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Carter Quarles out in front who scored 21 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Quarles has scored all season. Cullen Marti was another key contributor, scoring 22 points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. As for Coahulla Creek, their victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-4.
Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe will head out on the road to square off against Gordon Lee at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Coahulla Creek won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Northwest Whitfield at 4:30 p.m. on January 13th.
