MAHWAH, N.J. - the Thunderbirds scored 28 points in the second quarter to secure a big 52-12 victory over Ridgefield Park (N.J.) on Saturday.
Mahwah scored on a
Robert Askew touchdown run, a touchdown pass by
Jason Stepp to
Erik Wong, a touchdown run by Askew and a Stepp touchdown pass to
A.j. Cosgrove in the quarter.
After taking the lead on a Stepp touchdown pass to
Stephen Soria in the first quarter, MHS was up 38-6 at the half.
The Thunderbirds grew their lead to 39 points entering the fourth quarter. Mahwah's lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown run by Askew.
With the win MHS extended its winning streak to seven games. Mahwah defeated Westwood 24-20 last week.
Askew stood out for the Thunderbirds in the win. The senior running back ran for three touchdowns.
Mahwah went into the matchup giving up only 8.0 points per game. The Scarlets came in surrendering 17.3 points per game this season.
The loss comes after Ridgefield Park defeated Cliffside Park 35-7 last week.
