Given their disadvantage in the MaxPreps national rankings, Oglesby should expect quite the challenge on Friday. Their bye week comes to an end as they meet up with Calvert at 7:30 PM . Both of these teams will be looking for a pick-me-up after considerable defeats in their previous games.
After a dominant win in their contest three weeks ago, Oglesby were humbled two weeks ago. They took a serious blow against Cranfills Gap, falling 14-64. The loss shouldn't obscure the performances of sophomore Ian Markel, who accumulated 127 passing yards and punched in 1 rushing TD, and senior Nicholas Norrell, who caught passes for 92 yards and 1 touchdown. If you haven't heard Markel's name lately, then you haven't been paying much attention: he has loomed large in Oglesby's past four games.
Meanwhile, Calvert and Milford -- ranked 22nd and 4th in the MaxPreps national rankings, respectively -- squared off in a high-profile game. Calvert suffered a grim 28-54 defeat to Milford. Calvert were in a tough position by the half, with the score sitting at 14-38.
Oglesby took a serious blow against Calvert the last time the two teams met, falling 14-61. Can Oglesby avenge their defeat, or is history doomed to repeat itself ? We'll soon find out.
