The Yuma Catholic Shamrocks were the 75-20 winner over the American Leadership Academy - West Foothills Guardians when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Yuma Catholic took a 49-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of American Leadership Academy - West Foothills.
Despite the loss, Yuma Catholic still got an impressive performance from Amanda Wiley, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. Wiley is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Sadie Estes, who scored six points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Yuma Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for American Leadership Academy - West Foothills, their victory bumped their record up to 5-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Yuma Catholic and River Valley will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 17th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. River Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 291st, while Yuma Catholic is ranked 145th). As for American Leadership Academy - West Foothills, they will head out on the road to square off against Tonopah Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Tonopah Valley is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
