The Argonia Red Raiders struggled with offensive rebounds on Friday (the West Elk Patriots had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Argonia fell 54-43 to West Elk. Argonia has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Argonia still got an impressive performance from Filippo Leonardi, who scored 16 points. Carson Vineyard was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with nine rebounds.
Argonia struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Maddex Moreno continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for West Elk, scoring 30 points along with five rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Moreno has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Uriah Tillapaugh, who scored five points along with 11 rebounds.
Argonia dropped their record down to 3-8 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for West Elk, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
Argonia won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Caldwell at 10:30 a.m. on January 20th. Hopefully Caldwell focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Friday. West Elk won't have much time to rest: their next match is against South Haven at 1:30 p.m. on January 20th.
