The Jonesboro Cardinals''s game last Friday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They skirted past Alcovy 28-26. For Jonesboro, this counts as revenge for the 16-12 loss Alcovy walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2022.
Jonesboro got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jamon Jones out in front who threw for 326 yards and two touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes. Jonesboro also got help from Montez Redding who showed off his sure hands for 162 receiving yards.
Jonesboro's victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-3. Admittedly, the team didn't face the toughest opposition across those games, namely Alcovy, Morrow, and Rockdale County. As for Alcovy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jonesboro will take on Lovejoy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Lovejoy is ranked 174th, while Jonesboro is ranked 171st). As for Alcovy, they will be playing at home against Rockdale County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Rockdale County is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
