Butte View recap September 24, 2013
Winters scaled the state rankings by moving to 603 from 711 this week, the biggest jump in Butte View. The Warriors climbed the ranks as a result of beating Dixon 43-27.
Gridley was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from seventh to fifth in the league. Earlier in the week, the Bulldogs defeated Live Oak 20-14.
Wheatland's dynamic duo of Jackson Hopking and Jordan Samson proved to be unstoppable against Lincoln, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Hopking threw for 213 yards and 2 touchdowns and Samson had 106 yards receiving. Austin Cooper helped Wheatland's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 41 yards.
The Pirates' dynamic duo of Hopking and Samson proved tough for the Fighting Zebras to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Hopking put up the best numbers in passing as Wheatland topped Lincoln.
Chaz Mathews was the best running back in the league this week. In 14 carries, he ran for 143 yards as Winters topped Ken Lowe's team. Teammate Jacob Lowrie added to the ground attack by rushing for 101 yards.
Samson was the best wideout in Butte View this week as the Pirates bested the Fighting Zebras.
He went 13-26 with 2 interceptions.
Jonnie Johnson was a key player and the best on defense this week as Wheatland beat Lincoln. The 6-foot-5 sophomore.
5-foot-10 quarterback Randy Post of Sutter is the league leader in passing yards this season with 612. He has also thrown 6 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Kavi Ram. The Orland star has 20 catches for 280 yards.
The Huskies are in third place, while the Pirates are in first place.
Orland took down Willows 28-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Tyler Batchelder threw for 93 yards and ran for 98 yards during the win.
