St. Frederick extended their losing streak to six on Tuesday, dropping them down to 17-14. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the LaSalle Tigers. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.
Paige Davis put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off only two hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two hits in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Ella Pankey made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run. Another player making a difference was Ellis Hay, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
As for LaSalle, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 21-7. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games.
Like St. Frederick, LaSalle also got a great game from a two-way player: Landry Long. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Long was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Kinley Morris was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Emma Fenoli was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
St. Frederick has already played their next matchup (against Westminster Christian Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. LaSalle does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
