Omaha North hasn't had much luck against Westview recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Vikings will head out to face off against the Wolverines at 6:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with seven defeats in a row, Omaha North turned things around against Buena Vista on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Bison. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Vikings have posted since September 9th.
The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Omaha North who won the one that mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 21-25, 25-11, 20-25, 15-10.
Omaha North found their leader in freshman Giavonna Gunter, who had nine digs and three aces.
Omaha North was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 17 aces. They served seven more aces than Buena Vista's also-impressive total of ten.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Westview, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over South Sioux City on Monday.
The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-13, 25-14.
Omaha North's record is now 5-19. As for Westview, their record now sits at 16-7.
Omaha North might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Westview in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Wolverines' Kambry Kachaturian, who had ten digs and six aces.
