The Sandwich Indians will head out to square off against the Johnsburg Skyhawks at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sandwich is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Sandwich's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Plano by a score of 10-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The high-scoring effort was just what the Indians needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Jillian Freemon made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over six innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Abigail Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Audryna Brain, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Sandwich was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Plano only posted a batting average of .053.
Meanwhile, Johnsburg came up short against Richmond-Burton on Tuesday and fell 13-8. The Skyhawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Carlie Majercik made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Kimmy Whitlock, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.
Sandwich moved to 12-8 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Johnsburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Sandwich hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Johnsburg struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Everything went Sandwich's way against Johnsburg in their previous matchup on April 9th, as Sandwich made off with an 11-5 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
