Hoover is 1-9 against Nitro since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Hoover Huskies will head out on the road to square off against the Nitro Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Hoover is no doubt hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Monday, Hoover took a serious blow against Wayne, falling 58-12. While losing is never fun, Hoover can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while Wayne is ranked sixth).
Meanwhile, Nitro entered their tilt with South Charleston with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Nitro claimed a resounding 75-37 win over South Charleston at home. Nitro has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 21 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Nitro to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hailey Newsome, who scored seven points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Makynzie Casto, who scored 11 points.
Hoover's defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Nitro, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season.
Hoover ended up a good deal behind Nitro in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, losing 46-30. Can Hoover avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
