The Jena Giants put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 38-22 victory over Bunkie. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Jena also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2022.
When it comes to explaining why Bunkie lost, one person who can't be blamed is Dillon Compton. Despite the final result, he rushed for 121 yards and three touchdowns. Tanner Lemoine also helped out as he racked up 100 rushing yards.
Jena's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-0. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 6-2 Tioga and 5-3 Leesville (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 62.5% over those games). As for Bunkie, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-1.
Jena will take on Caldwell Parish at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Caldwell Parish will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings (they are ranked 151st, while Jena is ranked 40th). As for Bunkie, they will head out on the road to face off against Bolton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bolton comes in on a streak of failing to score more than six points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
