The P.K. Yonge Blue Wave won against The Rock Lions last Friday with 68 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. P.K. Yonge snuck past The Rock with a 68-63 win. The victory was all the more spectacular given P.K. Yonge's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 235th, while The Rock is ranked seventh).
P.K. Yonge's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lee Strong, who scored ten points along with three steals. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for him. Joel Washington was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds.
P.K. Yonge pushed their record up to 6-1 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.7 points per game. As for The Rock, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.
P.K. Yonge won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Santa Fe at 7:00 p.m. on December 16th. Santa Fe has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 24. The Rock will take on United Faith Christian Academy in a holiday battle at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at. Hopefully United Faith Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Saturday.
