The Lackey Chargers will challenge the Huntingtown Hurricanes at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Lackey will be looking to extend their current 12-game winning streak.
Lackey will bounce into Wednesday's game after beating North Point, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Lackey skirted past North Point 51-49. Given the Chargers' advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while the Eagles are ranked 166th), the result on Monday wasn't entirely unexpected.

02/03/25 vs Ron Brown | 7 |
Malik Gordon was his usual excellent self, putting up 18 points and four steals. He has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Kweli Tillman, who posted eight points.
Lackey smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Huntingtown, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 60-58 win over North Point on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hurricanes have posted since February 14, 2024.
Huntingtown's win came from a few key players Lackey will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Conner Lawrence, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 18 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Nate Harris was another key player, putting up 12 points in addition to five boards and three steals.
Huntingtown pushed their record up to 11-7 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 34.2% in those games and 28.8% outside of them. As for Lackey, their victory bumped their record up to 18-2.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Lackey has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 31.3 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Huntingtown struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.7 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Lackey didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Huntingtown in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 53-49 win. Will Lackey repeat their success, or does Huntingtown have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
