Adams Central is on a six-game streak of home wins, while Kearney Catholic is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Adams Central Patriots will take on the Kearney Catholic Stars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Adams Central didn't have too much trouble with Lexington at home as they won 53-36. Given Adams Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while Lexington is ranked 209th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Adams Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tate Mcintyre, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Jayden Teichmeier, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Kearney Catholic didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Lincoln Christian on Friday, but they still walked away with a 53-47 win. The win was just what Kearney Catholic needed coming off of a 59-33 defeat in their prior matchup.
Kearney Catholic can attribute much of their success to Oliver Sharp, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds, and Carson Murphy, who scored 18 points along with six assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Murphy has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Bosshamer, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Adams Central has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. As for Kearney Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 11-9.
Adams Central was able to grind out a solid victory over Kearney Catholic in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, winning 40-31. Will Adams Central repeat their success, or does Kearney Catholic have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
