West Central recap Sept. 26, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to O'Hara, who took down 125th ranked O'Hara, 26-14. Chris Sidfrid ran for 274 yards in the win.
Center moved up to 85 from 124 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in West Central. The Yellowjackets climbed the ranks as a result of a 47-7 win over St. Pius X.
Smith-Cotton's dynamic duo of Dakota Brown and Seth Redford proved tough for Warrensburg to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Brown threw for 20 yards and Redford had 20 yards receiving.
The Warriors' Grant Gavin and Bennie Palmentere have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Gavin has thrown for 580 yards this season, while Palmentere, a 5-foot-7 receiver, has 10 catches for 162 yards. Sidfrid from Clinton leads the league in rushing with 990 yards.
Sidfrid of the the Cardinals is only 10 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Clinton takes on Rick Byers's team. Chris Smoot's team's offense has racked up 111 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while the Warriors have allowed only 208 on the year.
A big matchup in West Central this week will be when the Tigers take on Center. Warrensburg is in fifth place, while Bryan DeLong's team is in second place.
The Tigers were the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in the league. Smith-Cotton beat Scott Grinde's team 21-18 earlier in the week.
