Cypress Ranch and Langham Creek are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2021, but likely not for long. Cypress Ranch will square off against Langham Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Cypress Ranch proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by six) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-9 victory over Bridgeland. Winning may never get old, but the Mustangs sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Rylie Tran made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rylie Skibbe, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Ashlynn Massey was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.
Cypress Ranch was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .469. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .345 or higher in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Langham Creek's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's sixth consecutive shutout on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Cypress Lakes. The result was nothing new for the Lobos, who have now won 11 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Karli Challburg made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Challburg was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Kassidy Martinez and Mia Martinez did most of the damage at the plate: Kassidy scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4, while Mia went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Izabella Amato-Ramirez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Langham Creek has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. Cypress Ranch's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-6.
Cypress Ranch skirted past Langham Creek 5-3 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Does Cypress Ranch have another victory up their sleeve, or will Langham Creek turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
