It was a good run, but the Jefferson Saints unfortunately witnessed the end of their 12-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 45-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bennett. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Jefferson of the 52-37 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.
Leading Bennett to victory were Jessica Venneberg and Lily Venneberg. Venneberg scored 18 points along with five steals, while Venneberg dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Venneberg has scored at least a third of Bennett's points. Olivia Schroeder was another key contributor, scoring four points along with four steals.
Jefferson's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-4. As for Bennett, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jefferson will face off against KIPP Denver Collegiate at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Bennett will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Eaton at 6:00 p.m. on February 14th.
