Softball Recap: Andrean Takes Down Hebron in a Playoff Battle

Andrean had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over the Hebron Hawks on Saturday. The Fighting 59ers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by six runs or more this season.

Sadie Drousias spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Maggie Voliva was incredible, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddy McCoy, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Andrean was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hebron only posted a batting average of .207.

Andrean has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Hebron, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-13.

Coming up, Andrean will face off against Knox at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Fighting 59ers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Redskins have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. Hebron does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
