One thing working in Hopewell's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
Hopewell pushed their score all the way to 63 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 64-63 to West Charlotte. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Hopewell has scored all season.
Quay Watson put forth a good effort for the losing side as he dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten assists. The contest was his eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Tayari Hines, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Concord Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a 52-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Covenant Day.
Hopewell's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-1. As for Concord Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.
