The Mifflin County Huskies will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Central Mountain Wildcats at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mifflin County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 137th, while Central Mountain is ranked 11th).
Last Friday, it was a hard-fought game, but Mifflin County had to settle for a 39-37 loss against Cedar Cliff. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mifflin County in their matchups with Cedar Cliff: they've now lost seven in a row.
Meanwhile, Central Mountain put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They snuck past Tyrone with a 74-68 victory. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Central Mountain's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brady Myers, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds. Myers continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Hunter Hoy, who scored 16 points along with six assists.
Mifflin County's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Central Mountain, their win bumped their record up to 6-0.
