Colt Mann was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Joel Fitz was a standout: he got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Trentin Cain, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Mount Union entered their tilt with Southern Huntingdon County on Thursday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Rockets. The Trojans not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 16th (when they won 10-0).
Like Southern Fulton, Mount Union also got a great game from a two-way player: Dylan Shawver. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts Shawver has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.
In other batting news, Jamon Ranck was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Nasir Collins was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
Mount Union always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southern Huntingdon County only posted an OBP of .250.
Southern Fulton pushed their record up to 16-1 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Mount Union, their win bumped their record up to 16-4.
Both Southern Fulton and Mount Union just can't seem to miss. The Indians have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.9 hits per game. However, it's not like Mount Union struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
