Oxford and Derby are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Oxford Wolverines will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Derby Red Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Connecticut (Oxford is ranked 159th, while Derby is ranked 134th).
Oxford pushed their score all the way to 63 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 71-63 to Ansonia. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Oxford in their matchups with Ansonia: they've now lost six in a row.
Meanwhile, Derby ended up a good deal behind Woodland Regional on Tuesday and lost 65-46. Derby has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Oxford has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-13 record this season. As for Derby, their loss dropped their record down to 4-12.
Oxford opened the new year with a less-than-successful 71-58 loss to Derby. Can Oxford avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
