Basketball Recap: St. Mary's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Three

St. Mary extended their winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Alexandra Vandiver. The St. Mary's Saints secured a 39-34 W over the South River Seahawks on Saturday thanks in part to Vandiver, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 boards. She is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last three games she's played.

The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Kelliher, who posted four points. That's the most points she has posted since back in December of 2023.

St. Mary's has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.5 points per game. As for South River, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3.

St. Mary's and Sanford will round out the year against one another at at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Mary's is facing Sanford at the right time seeing as Sanford is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for South River, they will be playing at home against Ashley Ridge at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Ashley Ridge's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games.
