The Union Academy Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 41 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 74-24 victory over Covenant Day on the road. The victory was nothing new for Union Academy as they're now sitting on six straight.
Union Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaiden Thompson, who scored 21 points along with four steals. Thompson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ranon Suttle, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists.
Despite the loss, Covenant Day still got an impressive performance from Alex Dix, who scored 19 points. The game was Dix's third in a row with at least ten points.
Union Academy pushed their record up to 8-1 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.2 points per game. As for Covenant Day, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.
After both having extra time off, Union Academy and North Stanly will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. North Stanly is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. Covenant Day will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Asheville Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024.
