Two dominant signal callers in Jacob Saucedo and Keven Hernandez are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Harlandale Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Burbank Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Harlandale's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last six matches.
Harlandale pushed their score all the way to 34 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They suffered a tough 60-34 defeat at the hands of Alamo Heights. While losing is never fun, Harlandale can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 599th, while Alamo Heights is ranked 245th).
Harlandale's loss came about despite a quality game from Saucedo, who threw for 302 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.8 yards per attempt, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Palomino, who picked up 121 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Burbank beat Jefferson on Friday by the very same score they won with last week: 41-13. The result was nothing new for Burbank, who have now won three contests by 28 points or more so far this season.
Hernandez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 87 yards and a touchdown, while also throwing for 247 yards and three touchdowns while completing 92.9% of his passes. Israel Zapata did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 94 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Burbank's win bumped their season record to 6-1 while Harlandale's defeat dropped theirs to 5-2.
Harlandale came up short against Burbank in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, falling 32-22. Can Harlandale avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
