The Philip Simmons Iron Horses typically have all the answers at home, but on Friday the Stratford Knights proved too difficult a challenge. Stratford snuck past Philip Simmons with a 65-59 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Stratford.
Kristion Swift was the offensive standout of the matchup as he scored 25 points along with 7 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Zanquel Baldwin, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Philip Simmons' loss came despite strong showings from Carlio Jenkins and Weston Coggeshall. Jenkins scored 19 points along with 8 rebounds, while Coggeshall scored 15 points along with 9 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Travaris Walker, who scored 7 points along with 11 rebounds.
The win got Stratford back to even at 4-4. As for Philip Simmons, they have yet to win a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 6-2 record.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stratford will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against West Ashley at 8:30 p.m. on December 12th. As for Philip Simmons, they will square off against Porter-Gaud at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Porter-Gaud will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
