The Parkwood Wolf Pack pushed their score all the way to 56 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. The match between Parkwood and Weddington wasn't particularly close, with Parkwood falling 70-56. While losing is never fun, Parkwood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 407th, while Weddington is ranked 35th).
Loss or not, Parkwood got some senior leadership from Greg Vinson who scored 25 points and Cameron McKinney who scored 18 points. The match was McKinney 's third in a row with at least ten points.
Grant Hamilton was his usual excellent self, scoring 27 points along with six rebounds and three steals for Weddington. That makes it four consecutive games in which Hamilton has scored at least 25% of Weddington's points. Another player making a difference was KJ Younger, who scored 19 points.
Parkwood has fallen quite a ways from their 20-7 record last season and are now at 2-4. As for Weddington, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.
Parkwood will be home for the holidays to greet Union Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Union Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Tuesday. As for Weddington, they will head out on the road to face off against Cox Mill at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Cox Mill's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
