It was a good run, but  the St. John's Mavericks unfortunately witnessed the end of their  three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell  84-74 to Houston Christian. While losing is never fun, St. John's can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings  (they are ranked 94th, while Houston Christian is ranked 32nd).
 St. John's loss  came despite strong showings from  Sebastian Williams-adams and  Malachi Booker.  Williams-adams  scored 32 points along with five  assists and five  rebounds, while  Booker  scored 28 points along with seven  rebounds. Williams-adams has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last seven times he's  played. Another player making a difference was  Colin Callahan, who  scored three points along with nine  rebounds and four  steals.
 St. John's defeat  ended  a  13-game streak of wins at home  dating back to last season and  dropped them to 19-6. As for Houston Christian, they are  on a roll lately: they've  won 12 of their last 13 contests,  which provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season.
 St. John's will be playing at home against Episcopal at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. As for Houston Christian, they will head out on the road to  square off against  St. Stephen's Episcopal at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday.
