Point Loma waltzed into their game on Thursday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They beat the Mira Mesa Marauders by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 4-3. This was payback for the Pointers, who suffered a 12-3 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Ella Poulin made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double.
In other pitching news, River Hargett looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Nanako Schroth was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Leyton MacPherson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Point Loma's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-2-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Mira Mesa, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10.
