Mt. Carmel has won three straight games at home, while Ramona has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Sundevils will host the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.
Mt. Carmel's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They blew past Fallbrook 12-0. That looming 12-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Sundevils yet this season.

Sirena Castro made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madie Codner, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Clara Carter was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Mt. Carmel kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Ramona got the win against Valley Center last Wednesday by a conclusive 16-2.
Like Mt. Carmel, Ramona also got a great game from a two-way player: Braelyn Bolen. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Bolen was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Ramona let Evie Brown and Lilia Ramos run wild. Brown went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Ramos went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Savanna Rhea, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Ramona has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-11-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Mt. Carmel, the win got them back to even at 9-9.
Mt. Carmel took their victory against Ramona in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 11-0 score. Do the Sundevils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
