Basketball Recap: Josiah Brooks and Jayquan Freeman Secure Win for Hialeah Educational Academy

Hialeah Educational Academy entered their tilt with Norland on Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 54-42 win over the Norland Vikings. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Biggie also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.

Leading Hialeah Educational Academy to victory were Jayquan Freeman and Josiah Brooks. Freeman went 6 for 11 on his way to 14 points and eight rebounds, while Brooks went 5 of 10 on his way to 16 points and three steals. The contest was Brooks' sixth in a row with at least ten points. Dario Haro was another key player, putting up seven points and four steals.

Several Vikings players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Oneal Norelus, who posted six points and 12 boards. That's the most rebounds Norelus has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jahquori Lombrage, who had seven points and five boards.

Hialeah Educational Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for Norland, they moved to 9-7 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Hialeah Educational Academy will head out to take on Mater Lakes Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hialeah Educational Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.3 points per game this season. As for Norland, they will host Miramar at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Miramar's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven matchups.
