Oakman is 7-0 against Fayette County since November of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Oakman Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Fayette County Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Oakman is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Fayette County in Alabama (Oakman is ranked 96th, while Fayette County is ranked 267th).
Oakman waltzed into Thursday's game with two straight wins but they left with three. They blew past Curry 64-34 on the road. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-13.
Oakman's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rick Johnson, who scored 20 points along with 4 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Johnson has scored at least 25% of Oakman's points. Another player making a difference was Trenton Warren, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Fayette County pushed their score all the way to 60 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Carbon Hill by a score of 63-60. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Monday (56), Fayette County still had to take the loss.
Oakman's victory lifted them to 3-0 while Curry's loss dropped them down to 0-7.
Oakman came out on top in a nail-biter against Fayette County in their previous matchup back in January, sneaking past 49-46. Does Oakman have another victory up their sleeve, or will Fayette County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
