The Stockbridge Tigers pushed their score all the way to 57 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 64-57 to Mt. Zion. Stockbridge was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Mt. Zion apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Stockbridge's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chase Taylor, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. That's the first time this season that Taylor scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Ny' zmere Pearson, who scored 11 points along with five steals.
Stockbridge struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Mt. Zion posted ten assists.
It was another big night for Jaki Bell, who scored 26 points along with six rebounds and two steals for Mt. Zion. Bell is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. Devante Burgest was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds and four blocks.
Stockbridge dropped their record down to 3-18 with that loss, which was their 17th straight at home. As for Mt. Zion, their victory bumped their record up to 5-14.
Stockbridge will be playing at home against Luella at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Luella is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Mt. Zion, they will head out on the road to square off against Pace Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Pace Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 515 points over their last eight games.
