The Plainview Pirates have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a hard 50-36 fall against O'Neill on Tuesday. Plainview has not had much luck with O'Neill recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Defeat or not, Plainview got some senior leadership from Teya Boyer and Abbie Kromarek. Boyer scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and four steals, while Kromarek. scored nine points.
O'Neill got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Hannah Hilker out in front who scored 21 points along with five rebounds. Hilker hasn't dropped below 20 points for three straight games. Olivia Young was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with four steals.
Plainview's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-6. As for O'Neill, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-13.
Plainview will head out on the road to take on Creighton at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. As for O'Neill, they and Ord will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. O'Neill is facing Ord at the right time seeing as Ord is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
