After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hereford, the Milford Mill Academy Millers were happy to have found some success on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Loch Raven and snuck past 46-43. This was payback for Milford Mill Academy, who suffered a 61-25 loss the last time these two teams met.
Despite the loss, Loch Raven still got an impressive performance from Maya Gordon, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Gordon scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Meona Boykin, who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Loch Raven were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
The win got Milford Mill Academy back to even at 5-5. As for Loch Raven, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-3.
Milford Mill Academy will head out on the road to face off against Parkville at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Loch Raven, they will be playing at home against Woodlawn at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Woodlawn focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Wednesday.
