Union and Rosewood are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2019, but not for long. The Union Spartans will head out on the road to square off against the Rosewood Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Union is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
Even though Union has not done well against Lakewood recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Union secured a 42-38 W over Lakewood. Given Union's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 205th, while Lakewood is ranked 445th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ariyona Spearman continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Union's points. Another player making a difference was Zadariyah Faison, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Rosewood can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They strolled past Hobbton with points to spare, taking the game 40-22. Rosewood's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Union's record now sits at 9-3. As for Rosewood, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-11.
Union beat Rosewood 43-32 in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Will Union repeat their success, or does Rosewood have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
