Aubrey Chavez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered seven earned runs on 12 hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Queen Creek let Alessia Velazquez and Emma Reynolds run wild. Velazquez went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple, while Reynolds went 2-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits Velazquez has posted since back in March. Tayla Falquez was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Queen Creek kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in seven consecutive games.
Queen Creek's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Desert Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 16-10.
Desert Ridge's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Queen Creek has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Desert Ridge, though, as they've been averaging 9.3 hits. Given Queen Creek's sizable advantage in that area, the Jaguars will need to find a way to close that gap.
