University stacked an 11th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard last Friday. They breezed by Unaka on the road to the tune of 75-44. Given University's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 136th, while Unaka is ranked 348th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Unicoi County came up short against Tri-Cities Christian on Thursday and fell 54-47.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Kolby Jones, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jackson Simmons, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
University has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. As for Unicoi County, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 20-10 record this season.
University beat Unicoi County 63-56 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for University since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
