The biggest upset of the week belonged to Santiago, who took down 43rd ranked Norco, 32-26.
Risaiah Basurto and Barry Ware provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Corona. The connection was good for 89 yards, the longest such play in Big VIII this season.
Joe Covarrubias provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Panthers lost to Centennial. He completed 13 passes for 301 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for one yards. Covarrubias' favorite target this week was Tramel Davis, who caught five passes for 166 yards.
Dearmie Street was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 17 carries, he ran for 116 yards as Roosevelt lost to the Huskies. Devon Scott also contributed to the rushing game with 76 yards on the ground.
Robert Webber put up the best numbers through the air as Centennial topped Steve Hill's team. He finished with 10 completions for 205 yards and four touchdowns. Webber's favorite target this week was Marco Catalano, who caught four passes for 130 yards.
Matt Logan's team's Webber and Ware have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Webber has thrown for 1248 yards this season, while Ware, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 12 catches for 381 yards. Joseph Ajeigbe from the Cougars leads the league in rushing with 807 yards.
A big matchup in Big VIII this week will be when Norco takes on the Huskies. Todd Gerhart's team is in third place, while Centennial is in first place.
There should be lots of points scored when the Cougars and the Huskies face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Norco comes in having scored 194 this season, while Centennial has scored 306. The Cougars scored 26 points last week as they fell to the Sharks.
The Huskies extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Panthers, 61-24. The win marks fifth in a row for the Centennial.
