The High Point Christian Academy Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 27 points or more this season. They blew past Forsyth Country Day 60-28 on the road. The team accrued 49 points in the first half and coasted on those for the victory.
It was another big night for Kylie Torrence, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. That makes it ten consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of High Point Christian Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Angel Walker, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Despite the defeat, Forsyth Country Day saw an underclassman step up: Gigi Lyons scored 13 points. The game was Lyons' seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Emily Kusnic, who scored seven points.
The victory was the fifth in a row for High Point Christian Academy, bringing their record for this year to 15-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.4 points per game. As for Forsyth Country Day, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-5 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. High Point Christian Academy will take on Asheville School (Independent) at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Forsyth Country Day won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Lincoln Charter at 12:00 p.m. on January 6th. Lincoln Charter knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Forsyth Country Day likes a good challenge.
