Basketball Recap: Bastrop Snaps 11-Game Streak of Wins at Home

It was a good run, but Bastrop unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They fell to the Anderson Trojans 61-56. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 47-26 back in January.

Bastrop's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Keyaira Limuel, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten boards, and Navaeh Jones, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 22 rebounds. That's the most boards Jones has posted since back in November of 2024. Kenadee Lawhon was another key player, putting up 12 points and three steals.

Anderson's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brooke Fuller, who posted 19 points and three steals. Fuller is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucy Swanson, who scored 11 points along with seven assists and six steals.

Bastrop's defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 31-4. As for Anderson, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a massive bump to their 19-11 record this season.

Bastrop and Anderson should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Bastrop (ranked 246th) will meet McCallum (ranked 835th) at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bastrop will be looking to keep their 11-game home win streak alive. Similarly, Anderson will square off against Navarro at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday up 559 places (465 vs. 1024).
