The McMichael Phoenix will square off against the Polk County Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Polk County will be up against a hot McMichael team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Phoenix were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Bartlett Yancey on Wednesday.
McMichael never let Bartlett Yancey on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-12, 25-22.
McMichael relied on the efforts of Emily Smith, who had 12 digs and two assists, and Daisy Pinzon, who had five digs.
Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Polk County had no problem doing just that on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Warriors as they made off with a 3-0 win.
The final score came out to 25-12, 25-13, 25-16.
McMichael better keep an eye on Aslyn Scruggs. She was instrumental in Polk County's win, getting five digs and three aces. What's more, Scruggs posted two assists, the most she's had since back in September. Beija Olivari also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.
Polk County was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 13 aces. They are a perfect 5-0 when they serve at least ten aces.
McMichael's victory bumped their record up to 21-10. As for Polk County, their win bumped their record up to 15-11.
