The Princeton Eagles had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came out on top against Loyalton by a score of 49-39. Given Princeton's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 143rd, while Loyalton is ranked 707th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Loyalton's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aidan Shelby, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Shelby scored a full 46.2% of Loyalton's points, the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ace Armstrong, who scored 10 points along with 3 steals.
Princeton's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Loyalton, their loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-3.
Princeton will square off against Los Molinos at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Loyalton is on the road again on Thursday and play against Portola at 8:30 p.m. on December 7th. Portola is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
