The biggest upset of the week belonged to Holy Redeemer, who took down 333rd ranked Hanover Area, 27-14. Jimmy Strickland threw for 252 yards and 3 touchdowns and caught 1 pass for 33 yards in the win.
Strickland and Eric kerr provided fans with a highlight when they connected against the Hawks. The connection was good for 94 yards, the longest such play in Wyoming Valley 2 this season.
He was 15-25 with 1 interception.
Isaiah Taylor was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 173 yards on 25 carries as Hanover Area defeated Hanover Area. Teammate Ya'Sir Jones added to the ground attack by rushing for 77 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Holy Redeemer's Strickland and kerr have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-3 quarterback Strickland has thrown for 1,818 yards this season, while kerr has 33 catches for 705 yards. Taylor from Ron Hummer's team leads the league in rushing with 829 yards.
Going into this week's game against Elmer L. Meyers, Patrick Reece's team's Strickland needs 182 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season.
The Hawks are in third place, while Lake-Lehman is in first place.
Northwest Area scaled the state rankings by moving to 315 from 342 this week, the biggest jump in Wyoming Valley 2. The Rangers were able to move up by besting the Mohawks 33-14.
