West Catholic is 2-8 against Archbishop Wood since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The West Catholic Burrs will head out on the road to face off against the Archbishop Wood Vikings at 7:00 p.m. West Catholic is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Last Monday, West Catholic came up short against La Salle College and fell 60-50.
Meanwhile, Archbishop Wood entered their tilt with Devon Prep with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Archbishop Wood came out on top against Devon Prep by a score of 62-51 on Sunday. Given Archbishop Wood's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while Devon Prep is ranked 140th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
West Catholic has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season. As for Archbishop Wood, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a massive bump to their 13-7 record this season.
West Catholic came out on top in a nail-biter against Archbishop Wood when the teams last played back in February of 2023, sneaking past 68-66. The rematch might be a little tougher for West Catholic since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
