The Northwest Lions will venture away from home to face off against the Lindbergh Flyers at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Having struggled with ten losses in a row, Northwest turned things around against Affton on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 14-3 win. The Lions not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 31st (when they won 19-0).
Aidan Amsden looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cayleb Mckenna was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Jack Wood was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Northwest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .610. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Affton only posted an OBP of .391.
Meanwhile, Lindbergh came tearing into Monday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 10-6 victory over the Lions.
Adler Crask made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Crask was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs.
In other pitching news, Nathan Leist looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Karsen Stout, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Ethan Cantareira, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Lindbergh pushed their record up to 28-11-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Northwest, their record is now 6-19.
Northwest might still be hurting after the 8-2 defeat they got from Lindbergh in their previous matchup on Tuesday. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
